Consciousness. Culture Cange

How Are You?

A simple question on the surface, but in times like these, it feels loaded.

We are living through crisis, division, uncertainty, grief, and disillusionment. Our nervous systems are holding more than they were designed to carry. There is more shock in any given news cycle than our bodies can absorb.

And yet: even in these disturbing times, something else is unfolding.

Particularly in my city of Minneapolis, we see new networks of connection and collaboration. Acts of care and solidarity for our neighbors. Where leaders fail, communities of regular people get to work.

These are the murmurations of a necessary cultural rebirth. Minneapolis is showing new possibility for creating change.

As above, So below—the ancient alchemical maxim tells us that what happens in a microcosm (Minneapolis) can eventually inspire change in other microcosms—and eventually, the macrocosm.

If you are someone who is rejecting complacency, hopelessness, or checking out in favor of consciousness and presence, you might not be "ok." But you are part of the sweeping revolution that can usher in a whole new consciousness.

And that is what this work is all about.

And so, whether you are "ok" or "not ok", you are welcome here.

Culture and the stories that have upheld it are breaking down. This is not the time to try to fortify them. It is the time to let them go.

We cannot accept half measures or half-hearted platitudes.

What is needed now is the courage to continue to live into the breakdown. To stay conscious and clear about what is happening, while freely exploring and imagining what could come next—not only for us as individuals, but as a culture. The forces that shape institutions also shape identity. As the ancient alchemical maxim reminds us, as above, so below.

This is a space for ideas. For questions. And for living into the interconnectedness between personal responsibility and cultural transformation.

This is the time to reimagine what is possible—for ourselves, and for the world.
